Exchange or wallet?

Reviewed 8 November 2026

Answer in brief

Both work. An exchange is quicker if your coins are already there; your own wallet is more private and lets you pick the network fee.

From an exchange

  • Choose Withdraw, not Send to a friend or Pay
  • Pick the coin and the exact network on the invoice
  • Some exchanges deduct the withdrawal fee from the amount. Add it, so the invoice receives the full sum
  • Withdrawals can wait for an exchange security check; leave time before the invoice expires

From your own wallet

  • You choose the fee and the transfer leaves at once
  • The exchange that sold you the coins can still see it went to your wallet, but not what you did next
  • Scan the QR code or paste the address; never type it by hand

Questions

Can I pay from Binance?

Yes. Use Withdraw, choose the network shown on the invoice and make sure the received amount matches.

Is a wallet more private than an exchange?

Yes. The exchange only sees the transfer to your wallet, not the payment after it.
